Kintamani in Bangli was in the news for the 13 who died in the landslides caused by heavy rains last week. The water from these mountain villages went down and flooded the waterways of the downstream villages of Tejakula where one died and Les where uprooted trees and firewood grade logs swamped the river, destroyed roads and irrigation canals before getting flashed out in the sea.The fisherfolks quickly roped in the logs from the waves while the womenfolks and children pick up all usable debris that got stranded on the shore. For a week, the sea was dirt brown for a kilometer from the shoreline and smelled like a rice paddy ready for planting. There's enough firewood to last many families for the rest of the rainy season.
